Cooking With Cricut Challenge #84 Teacher Appreciation Day

Last year for Teacher Appreciation Day I made a "Bouquet of Freshly Sharpened Pencils" and it was a big hit among my crafty friends and my daughter's teacher. So I thought I would stick with what works and make one again this year. I did go into a bit more detail this year, though. I had a very pretty bouquet finished when my six-year old told me it looked more like a baby shower bouquet than a teacher bouquet and asked for brighter colors.

This is a very quick, very inexpensive gift idea. The flowers are cut from Mother's Day Bouquet (as are the leaves and circles). The flowers and leaves are cut at 2" and the pink center circles are cut at .75". Simply cut the shapes. Adhere the pink dot to the center. Using a hole punch, make a hole in the center of the flower and stick the pencil eraser through. So simple!

The supplies for this project cost me $5: The bucket is from the dollar bin at Target, 2 packages of pencils, and a piece of foam from the floral section at the craft store.  (This year I stocked up on these $1 pails since I have so many different ideas of how to use them!)

The stamps is from a great set of teacher stamps that I bought from www.papertreyink.com

Head over to Cooking With Cricut and show us what you have concocted for the teachers in your lives! Coming from a family of teachers I can tell you how much they appreciate simple gifts when they come with a personal card with kind words showing that you do appreciate the love and energy the pour into your child!

I am also entering this into a coulpe of other challenge:

i heart post it notes

Let's face it. I love post it notes and any other office supply. When stressed I have been known to get a starbucks peppermint mocha and go to staples just to look and decompress. Yes, I realize I'm a geek/dork/loser lol, school supplies really do bring me joy. So, when I saw this project at kerryspapercrafts.com I knew I had to do it! My sister and I are doing our first craft fair this year and I'm a tad intimidated that my projects are going to look like the "dollar bin" next to her creations, but here is what I came up with!

I was very excited to find post-it notes on sale 12 pads for $5 at staples last week. The acrylic frames are 3.5 x 5 photo frames from The Christmas Tree Shop for 69 cents.  I had a ton of pens that I got for free at target using coupons over the summer and just wrapped them in scrapbooking paper.

The stamps are from papertreyink and the birds are cut from one of my favorite Cricut cartridges, StraightFrom the Nest.

I have lots more projects to take pictures of and post, too :)

Bouquet of Freshly Sharpened Pencils

My favorite line from you've got mail "I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address".

I have a fetish for school supplies. I love them. Really love them! The smell of pencils is intoxicating, lol. So, when I saw a friend post this project I had to do it too. It's teacher appreciation week and we're sending this in for my daughter's teacher in the morning.

The flowers are 2 inch flowers from Mother's Day Bouquet and the paper is a combination of random scraps. Then I just used a hole punch in the center and stuck the eraser through.  The projects cost me $2 ($1 for pencils and the bucket was from the $1 bin at Target).
I'm entering this at the Fantubulous Cricut Challenge to make a project with at least 3 flowers.
Also at Cooking with Cricut for a similar challenge that must include purple (I know you can't see it well, but there are at least 5 purple flowers in there, lol!. Also at Amber's Crafts and Stuff where the project is to make a project for a special lady (my daughter's teacher!).
