The challenge at Cooking with Cricut this week is to design a project inspired by your favorite spring song.
I remember sitting in the living room and listening to "Raindrops are Fallin' on my Head" on my parents old record player. Something about hearing it on the record made it so much better, it was like the static was the sound of the rain. I have lots of great memories of listening to old records with my sister who was three years younger than me. We would sit, upside down feet straight up in the air and heads dangling down to the ground and just belt out the words. (We also had a record of Micheal Jackson singing Rockin' Robin that we played a ton: we danced like crazy to that song). As we got older it progressed to us blaring the Beach Boys "Kokomo" over the radio as we did cartwheels in the front lawn. She passed away seven years ago, so I love when something like this triggers a memory I had otherwise forgotten about.
So, in honor of my memory of us as little girls I chose a cut from Kate's ABCs. I got this cartridge for Christmas this year and was so excited to do a girly card from it finally!
The image is from Kate's ABCs. The Scallop Card is from Wild Card.
We'd love to see what you come up with, so head over to Cooking with Cricut and link up your project!
I am also entering this project in 3 challenges:
My Craft Spot "Spring Scallops" Challenge
Cutie Pie Challenge Blog "Pink and a Bunny"
Celebrate the Occasion "Welcome Spring"
I'd love any comments or suggestions. If you like my projects I'd love some new followers, leave me a comment and I'll come check out your blog as well!

Great card Melissa. I enjoyed your post today ;)
ReplyDeleteAww Melissa, what a wonderfully touching post! And a lovely card to go right along with it! I love the "polka dotted" raindrops hehe! Very cute indeed and your little sis is certainly smiling on you today, my friend. I absolutely love it when a craft challenge sparks cherished memories, thoughts and feelings...thank you for sharing a bit of yours with us today and I remember those good ole' record playin days too--only it was off-limits to touch in my house, my Mom would let me pick a record and she would put it on but I always remember being told how delicate and expensive the "diamond" needle was lol...and my favorite was the Heart record with a big butterfly on the cover! :D TFS xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat Die Cut Shape! Love the rainbow image! Thank you for joining in at Cutie Pie! Woo & Hazel x
